ICE | The Portland Avenue Shooting

Q: Who was Renee Nicole Good? A: To the federal government, she was a “professional agitator.” To the community, she was a 37-year-old mother of three and a published poet. She moved to Minneapolis recently and lived just three blocks from the shooting site. Records show she had just dropped her 6-year-old son off at school and was driving home when she turned onto Portland Avenue.

Q: Was Renee Good an anti-ICE agitator? A: Federal officials say yes, claiming she was a “legal observer” stalking the operation. However, her family says she was a local poet with no history of activism. We’ve dug into her recent movements to see which story holds up. Federal officials claim she was a “legal observer” and “agitator” stalking their operation. Her family and friends insist she was a devoted Christian poet with no history of activism who had just dropped her child at school.

Q: Did the car actually hit the ICE agent? A: This is the million-dollar question. While the White House claims he was “viciously run over,” the bystander video shows the agent standing and walking immediately after the shots. We’ve analyzed the frame-by-frame details on the blog.

Q: Why was her car sideways in the road? A: This is where the story splits. ICE officials claim she used her purple Honda Pilot to “kettle” or trap their vehicles. However, witnesses describe a different scene: one ICE vehicle was already stuck in a snowbank, and the road was clogged with unmarked federal units. Witnesses say Renee was attempting to U-turn or maneuver around the gridlock and was actually waving for agents to pass her before the confrontation began. My question, is if you watch the video you will notice that she was sitting sideways in the street, not at any angle (like you would be if you were trying to drive down a street). So how could she be trying to “maneuver” when you can see that she was clearly just parked in the middle of the street? Was she making a u-turn, or trying to block the road?

Q: Was she part of an organized “mob” of agitators? A: While the administration says she was leading a group of protesters, reports show the large crowds only gathered after the shooting occurred. At 9:30 AM, when the shots were fired, some reports say that the street was relatively quiet except for neighbors watching the raid. However, in the videos, there is so much yelling and screaming going on that you cannot make out what the agents are say to Renee. Plus, after the shooting there seems to be a rather large crowd already present in the videos, so it seems rather clear that therre was a mob of some sort at the time that Renee was shot. Obviosly different from the “report” being filed. Maybe because they don’t want you to beleive that Renee Good was any kind of aggitator?

Q: Was Renee Good realy a poet or is that just fluff to make her sound nice? A: As for her “poet” background—it’s not just fluff. Renee won the Academy of American Poets ODU College Poetry Prize in 2020. Her friends describe her as a compassionate, “gentle soul,” not a radical activist.

Q: What about the “injured” ICE agent? A: This is the most contested detail. President Trump stated the agent was “viciously run over” and is lucky to be alive. DHS says he was “treated and released.” However, multiple bystander videos show the agent who fired the shots standing on his own two feet, holstering his weapon, and walking away immediately after the incident. There is currently no public footage or medical record confirming he was struck by the vehicle.

Q: Why couldn’t she just follow the officers’ orders? A: Eyewitnesses report a “wall of sound.” Between the screaming neighbors, the federal agents, and the sirens, it was impossible to hear clear commands. Some witnesses claim one agent was yelling at her to “get out of here” (drive away) while another was simultaneously trying to rip her door open. In that confusion, she hit the gas. Was it a getaway attempt or a panic response? The answer lies in the federal dashcam footage that has yet to be released.

Q: Where is the federal dashcam footage? A: Despite the massive scale of this operation, no official federal video has been released. We look at why this “missing” evidence is the only thing that can settle the terrorism vs. accident debate Despite the operation involving over 2,000 agents, no federal dashcam or bodycam footage has been made public. Bystander video shows the moment of the shooting, but the angle is obstructed, leaving the question of the agent’s “injury” unanswered.
