What Are You Sowing

What Are You Sowing?

What Are You Sowing?

In California’s Central Valley, two high schoolers—Chris and Marco—wrapped up junior year with very different plans. Chris spent his summer binge-watching shows and hitting every party. Marco joined a youth mission trip and learned guitar to help lead worship.

When school resumed, Chris felt stuck and spiritually dry. But Marco returned energized and on fire for God, already helping lead worship at church. One summer, two paths. The difference? What they sowed.

Scripture Reading

“Be not deceived. God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:7–9 MEV

Devotional Reflection

Summer feels like freedom—no school, no homework, no alarm clocks. But freedom reveals what really matters to you.

Paul reminds us: You will reap what you sow. It’s not just spiritual; it’s practical.

  • If you sow laziness, you’ll reap frustration.
  • If you sow sin, you’ll reap regret.
  • If you sow into the Spirit—prayer, worship, Scripture—you’ll reap life and peace.

Every moment this summer is a seed. What are you planting with your time, your mind, your habits?

Real-Life Application

Ask yourself:

  • What kind of harvest do I want in my life this fall?
  • How am I spending my free time?
  • What steps can I take to sow into my faith this week?

Try reading one chapter of Proverbs each day, praying each morning before touching your phone, or serving in a summer outreach project. Little seeds grow into big harvests.

Closing Encouragement

“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed to sow, shall come home again with rejoicing, bearing his sheaves with him.”
— Psalm 126:5–6 MEV

Prayer

Lord, help me be mindful of how I spend my time this summer. Let me not waste it, but use it to grow closer to You. Show me where to sow, how to water, and when to wait. Let me not grow weary in doing good. In Jesus’ name, amen.
